DUSU Elections 2024 -25: Ronak Khatri Elected President, Bhanu Pratap Wins Vice-President

New Delhi, November 25, 2024 – (DUSU Elections 2024) The Delhi University Students Union elections for 2024-25 concluded peacefully on Monday, November 25. With thousands of students casting their votes, the results revealed the new leadership team for the upcoming year. The elections saw intense competition, and the final tally brought some familiar faces into the limelight.

 

Election Results at a Glance

Ronak Khatri emerged as the President with a total of 20,207 votes, narrowly defeating Rishabh Chaudhary, who secured 18,868 votes. Khatri’s victory reflected a close contest among eight candidates, with significant student support turning the tide in his favor.

For the post of Vice-President, Bhanu Pratap Singh took the lead with 24,166 votes, leaving his closest competitor, Yash Nandal, with 15,404 votes. Singh’s win comes after a highly competitive race among five candidates for the position.

Mitravinda Karanwal was victorious in the race for Secretary, securing 16,703 votes, just ahead of Namrata Jeph, who garnered 15,236 votes. The competition for this post saw four candidates vying for the coveted position.

In the contest for Joint Secretary, Lokesh Chaudhary claimed victory with a total of 21,975 votes, defeating Aman Kapasiya, who managed to secure 15,249 votes. This post also witnessed significant student engagement with four candidates in the running.

NOTA Voting: A Key Indicator of Student Sentiment

A significant portion of students expressed dissatisfaction with the available choices by opting for NOTA (None of the Above). For example, 3,906 students voted NOTA for the position of President, while 4,411 students selected NOTA for Vice-President, reflecting a growing trend of students seeking alternative options. Similar sentiments were visible in the elections for Secretary and Joint Secretary, with 6,771 and 5,660 NOTA votes, respectively.

A Peaceful and Transparent Election Process

Prof. Satyapal Singh, the Chief Election Officer for DUSU 2024-25, emphasized the smooth and peaceful nature of the voting process. He praised the university’s commitment to maintaining a fair election environment, free from disruptions.

The election saw eight candidates vying for the position of President, including notable names like Aniket Mandke (2,028 votes), Badee U Zaman (844 votes), Pinky (854 votes), and others. Each candidate worked tirelessly to mobilize support from various student groups, but ultimately, Khatri’s message resonated the strongest.

In the Vice-President race, competitors like Ayush Mondal (3,650 votes) and Banashree Das (2,339 votes) provided a tough challenge, but Bhanu Pratap Singh’s strong campaign led to his decisive win.

The Secretary position had four contenders, including Adithyan MA (3,358 votes) and Sneha Agarwal (8,806 votes), but Mitravinda Karanwal managed to gain the highest student approval. Similarly, in the Joint Secretary race, Anamika K (5,676 votes) and Anjana Sukumaran (2,417 votes) put up a good fight, but Lokesh Chaudhary emerged as the favorite.

The newly elected team has a challenging task ahead as they take charge of the student body. With the elections behind them, the focus now shifts to addressing key issues that students face at Delhi University, including academic reforms, campus infrastructure, and student welfare.
